Is the Dr. Stillman Quick Weight Loss Diet Still Viewed to be Effective? The Dr. Stillman Quick Weight Loss diet is nearly half of a century old and dates back to the 1960's. Stillman, an MD, was one of the first researchers to discover that diets that are low in fats and carbohydrates can expedite the weight loss process. As such, the Dr. Stillman diet is the predecessor to many of the modern diet phenomenon (such as the South Beach Diet and the Atkins Diet.) One of the reasons that the Stillman approach works is because the low carbohydrates that are recommended on the diet ensure that the dieter does not consume too much energy. As such, the dieter may feel run down and tired when he first begins the diet, but after several weeks of adjustment, the dieter will begin to enjoy the changing shape of his or her body. When a person consumes too many carbohydrates, the body stores the excess in fat deposits on the body. When the diet is also rich in fat, the fat simply grows and stores on the body all together. However, my minimizing both of these diet nemesis, the body is able to avoid fatty build-ups and use up more energy that it takes in. As such, the Stillman diet truly is effective. Now for the Stillman claim that the average dieter will lose 28 pounds in just 30 days? This figure is entirely reasonable for an individual that is morbidly overweight. However, for the average person that just wants to trim down, a safe weight loss increment is two pounds per week. As such, the body's chemical composition and electrolytes will stay balanced. Slow weight loss and genuine lifestyle changes are necessary for long-term weight loss to succeed. |
