The Important of a Healthy DietA healthy diet is important for any person, no matter what their current weight or health status may be. A healthy diet needs to consist of many basic food items. Below is a list of basic rules to keep your diet on a healthy path. Water should be a main staple in your diet. You should drink at least 8-12 glasses a day (8 oz). Whole grains are much better for you than foods not made with whole grains. For example, use whole wheat bread, rather than wheat or white bread. These foods will make you feel full for a longer period of time, therefore you will eat less throughout the day. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Add these items into your meal whenever you can, Dark fruits and vegetables are better for you than lighter colored fruits and vegetables, because they are more nutrient dense. Eat green beans instead of corn or red grapes instead of green grapes. Eat non-fat or low-fat dairy products, to ensure that you receive the calcium you need from them without all the saturated fat that most dairy products contain. Keeping these tips in mind will help you eat a healthy diet and keep your body in optimal condition for many years to come. Don't forget to exercise on a regular basis -- at least 30 minutes 3 times a week -- to stay healthy. This also plays a large part in what the condition your body will be now, as well as in the future. |
