The Voracity of the Ideal Weight CalculatorThe ideal weight calculator is a popular metric system used by doctors' offices and insurance companies around the world. The calculator uses an equation based on a person's height and age to determine the ideal weight. While this system may be streamlined and easy to follow by anyone, it is important to note that it is not always effective. The ideal weight calculator can offer ballpark weight figures for individuals. However, there are three body types that are not taken into consideration using the ideal weight calculator equation. The three body types that all people are innately born with are: thin, medium build and large build. The body type of largely determined by the bone structure, muscle structure and body composition. Because the three body types vary in the capacity and storage of weight, it is not possible to consider the three types using the same calculations and expect those calculations to be fair. For example, a thin-framed male will weigh less than a thick framed male even if the height and age is the same. Where weight calculations do come in handy is with the seriously underweight and seriously obese. The weight calculators, of course, have standard deviations, which determine just how unhealthy a person's weight is. For example, if you weight 50 pounds less than the ideal weight, it is generally the case that you are too thin. If you weigh 50 pounds more than the ideal weight, then you are too large. The ideal weight calculator, therefore, should not be used in individuals that have so-called normal builds, as the calculator will not reflect the true ideal weight for a person's body type. Rather, use the calculator only to determine extremes in either direction. Keep in mind that the best weight to determine weight is to gauge whether or not your weight restricts your lifestyle and daily behavior. |
