Info on Diets

You can effectively fight the indigestion with a proper diet.

Indigestion (also known as dyspepsia or the upset stomach) is in short, a feeling of discomfort in the upper abdomen. Sometimes it is caused by various digestive system diseases, but much more often it occurs when we eat too much, too fast or too fat.

Some people suffer from the indigestion for unknown reasons, at least at the first glance. This is called "the functional dyspepsia" and is usually related to muscular squeezing action of the stomach or the psychic condition of the patient.

The typical symptoms of the indigestion are as follow:digestion

  • burning feeling in the upper abdomen
  • a bitter taste in the mouth caused by stomach acid
  • nausea
  • bloating
  • belching
  • vomiting
  • lack of appetite

Although almost everybody had once or twice symptoms of indigestion in his life, they cannot and should not be neglected when they occur often. In fact, they may be a warning signal from the body that there is something really wrong with the digestive system. For example, you may suffer from ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease or even the stomach cancer.

Nevertheless, the most common cause of the indigestion is our eating habits. We eat definitely too quickly and sometimes too much. We use too much spice and, because of our lifestyle, we often eat during stressful situations. All of that may cause the more or less severe indigestion. Also, smokers and people who drink too much alcohol are at risk of having such problems.

The best way to get rid of the indigestion is visiting a doctor who will check what its reasons are and eventually prescribe some proper medicines. If all serious diseases will be excluded, you can try to reduce the fat level in the meals as well as to get rid of some spices. We should also avoid eating too much and serving the last meal late at night.

There is also a good possibility that the indigestion is caused by some specific food or stressful situation. That's why we should note when it occurs and eventually avoid those conditions and products that seem to coincide with our problems.

Finally, the healthy nutrition may not only help us fight the indigestion, but also effect in losing weight and improving the health. Getting rid of smoking a cigarette before meal or reducing the amount of chili surely isn't a high price for eliminating the chance of having the indigestion.
