Want to Lose Weight? Be Sure to Eat Your Breakfast!

Studies have shown that a good breakfast is a key to healthy and sustainable weight loss. Many people think that the less they eat, the more weight they'll lose, but in many cases that just isn't true. People who eat breakfast usually eat less saturated fat and cholesterol, and also tend to eat fewer calories overall than people who skip the meal each day.

If you skip breakfast, you are slowing down your metabolism and decreasing your blood sugar. This will make you hungry and sluggish, and could cause you to overeat at lunch or snack through the morning on high-fat goodies. The American Heart Association recently determined that people who eat breakfast every day may reduce the risk of obesity and early signs of diabetes by 35 to 50 percent.breakfast

While eating breakfast is important, it also matters what kind of breakfast you eat. Overly sweet or fatty foods won't really give you a healthy start to the day, and could actually increase your cravings later. Many experts recommend a cereal-based breakfast, whether it's a steaming bowl of oatmeal or a crunchy granola bar. Whole grains are the most healthful, and will give you the nutrients you need.

Today, there is no real excuse for not eating breakfast. So many products are designed for people on the go, from tubes of yogurt to energy bars and even portable cereal bowls with their own milk. So, start eating breakfast to jump-start your weight loss!
