Using Burdock Root to Detox the Body

While not a diet aid in the strictest sense of the word, Burdock is a popular alternative health supplement that is gaining popularity for its cleansing properties. Although popular in the Far East for centuries, Burdock has only recently become well known for its ability to purify the body and cleanse the system in western parts of the world. It's generally taken as a pill or drunk in a soothing tea form.

Acting through the bloodstream, burdock detoxifies the blood, flushing out impurities and increasing the production of red blood cells. It also stabilizes and nourishes the respiratory system. The most important nutrients to be found in burdock root supplements include:

Interestingly, burdock root is also an excellent treatment for skin conditions like dandruff or eczema when used topically instead of taken as a pill or tea. Daily applications can ease itching and promote shinier, healthier hair and smoother skin.
