While learning Maths, Internet and the mysteries of sudoku is relatively safe, this is not the case when dealing with the diet. However, keep in mind that the fact she writes books also on other subjects does not mean her detox diet is necessarily worthless.

A closer look at Carol Vorderman's diet

Carol Vorderman's detox diet is, in short, all about cleansing our bodies from toxins our body stores thanks to eating of preprocessed food, improper diet and environmental pollution. The diet calls for two 28-day strict dietary regimes every year and a limiting certain kinds of food during the rest of the year.

The rules of Carol Vordeman's diet:

  • Avoid processed food,
  • Drink at least 1.5 liter of water every day (2 liters would be even better),
  • Eat fruit and vegetables at least five times a day,
  • Eat every time you feel hunger.
  • While on her diet, you should avoid such food products as:
  • Coffee,
  • tea,
  • dairy products,
  • sugar and sugar-containing products (as well as sweeteners),
  • ready meals,
  • alcohol,
  • fried foods,
  • wheat bread,
  • pasta,
  • white rice,
  • fizzy drinks.

Following such regime for 28 days should effect in eliminating toxins from the body, improving the immunological system and increasing the well-being.

Is everything ok with Carol Vorderman's diet?

The very idea of detox diets is criticized for being dangerous to the health. The critics point out that the fat is rapidly burnt and the toxins are introduced into the bloodstream, deteriorating the dieter's health state. However, even the greatest enemies of detox diets agree that such dangers are greatest in case of water fasting and that Carol Vorderman's detox diet is one of slower and safer forms of detox dieting.

In short - the very idea of detox diets is disputed and their effects can be mixed. But if you really want to do it, Carol Vorderman's diet is probably one of the best and safest choices you can make.
