When Skinny Girls Ditched Dr. Atkins Diet Plan

Several years ago when everyone was following the Dr. Atkins diet plan, Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston was quoted in a tabloid magazine as telling her friends to keep the carbohydrates far away from her. But two years later, skinny girls in magazines talk about how they eat pasta every day. It's sexy to eat pasta again. What's changed? Dr. Atkins legacy doesn't live on. A few years ago Dr. Robert Atkins, the founder of the high-protein diet, died after an accidental fall at the age of 72. The complete Dr. Atkins diet plan can be found in his 1972 book Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution, which started the low-carbohydrate craze. In the 1980s, the Atkins diet had not yet caught on with most people as the low-fat diet had peaked in popularity.

Most people in the 1980s ate complex carbohydrates such as pasta and then burned it off with high-impact aerobics or by jogging.

But in 1992, the Dr. Atkins diet plan became popular with the publication of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution.

Why the diet is rejected

Skinny girls reject the Atkins diet plan atkinsbecause it does not bring long-term success. Most people lose water weight and lean muscle mass, but not the unsightly fat they had hoped to shed.

Skinny girls count calories, not carbohydrates. They eat a balanced diet instead of trying to manipulate fat, protein or carbohydrates.

While it may sound fancy to be part of an "induction phase," skinny girls don't want to have the bad breath associated with high-protein diets. The first phase restricts carbohydrates to just 20 grams a day. That's like eating one bagel and an apple.

Finally, it's impossible to get all of the fiber you need to be regular and to feel satiated on a high-protein diet that restricts healthful carbohydrates.

Scientists have proven a high intake of fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of cancer.

If you stay on Dr. Atkins diet plans you will feel grumpy, bloated and constipated. Choose a more balanced diet and you will be happy with your results and the way you feel.
