Follow a healthy family diet!

If you are worried about you and your whole family eating too much or too fat, you are probably right. Over 40% of Americans face the risk of obesity, mostly thanks to the wrong eating habits. Most of the presented solutions, however, are often too drastic to be practical. While you might be worried about the weight, your family doesn't need to feel the same - and there is nothing as difficult as following the diet while everyone around you eat deep-fried chicken nuggets.

Fortunately, you can help yourself and your family at the same time without any drastic moves. All you really need to improve the situation is following these simple rules.

  • First, reduce the amount of fat in your diet. It does not mean getting rid of family dietsanything, but simply choosing the low-fat version of products you use. Examples? Here's just a few:
  • Low-fat milk (2%) is just as tasty as its fatter versions,
  • You can make fries in the oven instead of deep-frying them (they'll be twice less fatty then),
  • If you really like preprocessed food, choose the products that contain less fat - for example, some brands of chicken nuggets contain twice the fat of other,
  • Do the same with the sugar. While this may normally cause serious problems with the kids, you can make it less harmful or even actually a fun if only you show the "replace-not-ban" approach,
  • Buy only diet drinks instead of banning Coke altogether,
  • Do not limit the amount of cookies or candies, just don't buy them anymore - make your own, low-sugar cookies (there are lots of recipes on the Net),
  • Introduce fruits and shakes as an alternative to ice-cream for desserts,
  • Use sweeteners rather than sugar for tea or coffee.

Of course using low-fat and low-sugar substitutes can't do everything, but it will help you keep your family diet as healthy as possible. And, if you you just add some more fruits and vegetables (in form of soups, for example), you will get a fine, well-balanced family diet. If you're lucky, no one will even notice that you have completely changed their diet - and in case of family matters it may be a huge plus.
