Dropping a few pounds isn't difficult, but if you want to lose fifteen pounds or more it's easy to get discouraged. These fast weight loss tips are handy ways to jump-start your weight loss whenever you hit a plateau or need some extra motivation.

Drink plenty of water. Water helps you feel full, especially if you drink a glass before a meal. You'll feel satisfied sooner and eat less. Drinking plenty of water also keeps you hydrated, and a hydrated body burns calories more efficiently.

Start walking. Even a half-hour walk each day will have beneficial effects. You'll have more energy and tend to eat less, which will help in the calorie department. It also boosts your metabolism, and the effect lasts for several hours after you finish walking. If you take a walk each morning, your body's furnace will continue to run at higher speed for quite a while.

Eat snacks. If you find that you're hungry by mealtime and overeat, begin eating regular snacks between meals. Keep them nutritious and low calorie (whole wheat crackers and a handful of grapes, for instance) and you'll feel better and curb that tendency to overeat at the dinner table. An added bonus - your metabolism will increase and you'll burn calories more efficiently all day long.

Give yourself a day off. This sounds counter-intuitive, but it often works. If you've been staying on a strict diet for quite a while, your metabolism may have slowed down to adjust to your new eating patterns. Having a "cheat" day will reactivate your metabolism when you return to your diet. You'll also feel more motivation having appeased your cravings for a while.
