Looking For A Free Negative Calorie Diet?

You may not know this, but there are foods you can eat that will burn more calories than they contain. People who know this often find themselves searching for a free negative calorie diet. The fact is, it's really not a diet plan at all so much as the knowledge of what foods to eat.

How do negative calorie foods work? It's a case of how complex they are, and how hard your body has to work to digest them. Fibrous vegetables and those with other complex structures take your body a while to digest, and thus it has to burn calories to do so. So the equation is simple: find foods with complex structures that are low in calories, and you'll be on the right track to building your negative calorie diet.

It's important to note that negative calorie foods should be eaten raw, if at all possible, or cooked as little as possible. If you cook these foods, especially with oil, butter or any other amendment, you'll be changing the calorie count and the nutrition profile, negating their negative calorie benefits. You might say this is why cavemen were rarely obese: they weren't so much into creamed spinach and mashed potatoes with butter.

Also, be sure to leave the skins on the fruits, as that is where a lot of the fiber content resides. Fiber is one of the things that takes your body a while to digest, providing a large portion of the negative calorie benefits.

Here are some negative calorie foods:

  • Asparagus
  • Beets
  • Broccoli
  • Green cabbage
  • Carrots
  • Cauliflower
  • Hot chili peppers
  • Cucumber
  • Endive
  • Garlic
  • Green beans
  • Zucchini
  • Apples
  • Cranberries
  • Grapefruit
  • Strawberries
  • Lettuce (all types)
  • Onion
  • Papaya
  • Radishes
  • Spinach

As you can see, there are no meats, legumes, grains or other protein sources on the list. Therefore, this would be a diet very difficult to stick to in the long run, and actually not healthy for long-term use. It is actually a better idea to incorporate these foods into a healthful diet. One of the best ways to do this is by making sure that whenever you eat a between-meal snack, it comes from the negative calorie food list. If your snacks help you burn calories, rather than packing them on, you've taken a big step toward long-term weight loss success.
