Info on Diets |
The Un-Health Benefits of the free Scarsdale DietMany nutritionists and health professionals view the free Scarsdale Diet to be very unhealthy for the majority of people. The diet is, essentially, designed around the principals of minimal caloric intake and optimal protein consumption. As such, the diet succeeds primarily because it starves the body of necessary calories ... and nutrition. While on the diet, individuals are instructed to intake only four glasses of water a day - that's half of the recommended intake, according to national health guidelines. The primary reason for the reduction in water is so that individuals on the diet will not take on extra "water weight", or weight associated with water consumption. However, it is important to note that if you do not take in enough water, you will become dehydrated. Dehydration can lead to organ failure and serious illness. While also on the Scarsdale diet, individuals are instructed to eat only half of a piece of fruit for breakfast along with a caffeine-enriched beverage. For lunch, they make have meat and vegetables. For dinner, they may have meat the veggies again. The diet provides no more than 500 calories per day to dieters and zero grams of fat. As such, the body does receive food and calories, but not enough to keep it healthy in the long run. What's more: the body does not get enough essential vitamins to fight off illness and ensure that the system continues to function well. While the Scarsdale diet is only recommended for short-term use, prolonged dieting or subscribing to this diet repeatedly can lead to long-term body damage. Dieters run the risk of altering their body chemistry and electrolyte balance to a point where serious damage is irreversible. Before beginning the Scarsdalediet, it is highly recommended that you consult a physician or certified nutritionist. |
