What Tastes Fizzy And Sweet: Guarana For Weight Loss

While soda pop is the last thing a person should drink when they are trying to lose weight, there is always an exception to every rule. Guarana, a tropical plant with red fruit, makes a refreshing alternative to the high fructose corn syrup and other ingredients in American carbonated beverages.

The stimulant has a high amount of caffeine and is used in Brazil as part of a soft drink that tastes similar to cream soda. You can use products containing this magical ingredient for weight loss, but never mix it with ephedrine to avoid dangerous side effects.

Tropical plant with punch

Guarana, which is also known as paullinea cupano, is used in energy drinks in the powderGuarana plant form. But people in the Amazons actually chew guarana seeds to perk them up and get them through their days. It's similar to the way people in other cultures drink coffee in the morning to start their days.

Some people enjoy mixing the ingredient in their fruit punch. For a refreshing low-fat treat, mix 1 can of pineapple juice with 1 bottle of champagne, 4 cans of guarana soft drink, 1 bottle of grape juice or fruit punch and 1 container of orange sherbet. You can use a bottle of ginger ale instead of the champagne if you want to make an alcohol-free version. For less sugar, eliminate or reduce the scoops of sherbet.

Weight loss benefits to guarana

Researchers say paullinea cupano can improve cognitive function as well as boost weight loss. In one study subjects lost 11 pounds in a month and a half by using a mixture of guarana, yerba mate and damiana. Another benefit is the fact paullinea cupano can increase physical stamina. It's an antioxidant which can reduce fat when combined with conjugated linoleic acid, according to some studies.
