Low blood sugar diet can save your life.

A low blood sugar diet is not hard to create. The main rules of the diet are very simple - you must reduce the intake of simple sugars and increase the intake of complex carbohydrates, protein-rich food and fiber.

Hypoglycemia is a very common disease amongst obese and overweight people. Still, due to the often varied symptoms, it is commonly not diagnosed properly, as the patients think that they feel bad only because of overworking.

Episodes of hypoglycemia may happen at any time, but especially when you:

  • exercise too much,
  • skip breakfasts,
  • drink too much coffee or alcohol
  • sleep too much, so the break between meals is long enough to lower the sugar level in your blood.

The main goal of every low blood sugar diet is to avoid fluctuations in the secretion of thfruit diete insulin and thus do not allow the blood sugar level to drop too much. This is why all products which rapidly increase the amount of sugar in our blood thus provoking pancreas to secrete more insulin, should be restricted.

Still, there are so many different low blood sugar diets that everyone may get confused even when he knows exactly what he needs. Some diets allow eating fruits, while some other exclude them. There are even a few protein-rich, carbohydrates-low diets, but they are rejected by many doctors due to the fact that the protein increases the insulin levels. Fortunately some of rules are constant:

  • In low blood sugar diets, it's not the composition of nutrients that is most important, but the number of meals. In order to stabilize the blood glucose level you should eat 6 to 8 smaller meals daily instead of 3-4 bigger. You are also allowed to eat something right before you go to bed.
  • You must reduce the amount of alcohol coffee, tea, soda drinks, chocolate, and cocoa you have every day. All these drinks and products may cause serious fluctuations of insulin secretion. Fresh fruits are much better than canned fruits and juices but, as they still contain a lot of simple sugars, you should not eat too much of them.
  • Your diet should consist of a wide variety of protein-rich products, like fish, poultry, meats, and dairy products, together with complex carbohydrates - potatoes, rice, pasta, vegetables. You should also include some high-fiber products like whole grain food, nuts or carrots.

The hypoglycemia is not a disease we can ignore, so before you start to cure yourself, visit your doctor first. He will surely be able to help you create a low blood sugar diet which will exactly fit your needs.
