Lower Cholesterol, Lose Weight and Live a Fuller Life

Cholesterol is the substance that accumulates in one's arteries and leads to circulation and heart problems. It comes in two forms: HDL (good) and LDL (harmful). The best way to lower cholesterol is to lose weight; this will not only lower the bad cholesterol, it may help lower triglycerides and actually increase HDL, the good cholesterol.

You can lower your cholesterol by avoiding foods that contain high levels of saturated fats, which are mainly found in animal products. There is a new drug (available only in Europe at this time) called Acomplia that has been proven to raise HDL, lower triglycerides and help one lose weight. People taking Acomplia lost an average of 15 pounds per year more than those who took placebos in the test study.

A diet that includes lots of fresh vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products will be a starting point for a goal of lower cholesterol as well as weight loss.
