Men's Diet Difficulties-Mind frame and Lifestyle

When men decide to lose weight, they generally are very focused on the goal. They may be motivated by their medical professional or by vanity, but a men's diet is often also an extension of their egos.

Men may not want people to know they are trying to lose weight. After all, men are supposed to be robust and hearty. Men are usually not overly concerned about their physical shape. Some feel pressure to drink alcohol, eat thick juicy steaks and slather butter onto warm slabs of bread. And many men are not comfortable ordering just a salad with dressing "on the side" for a business lunch.

One good way to alter a man's diet is to have a mindset of health improvement rather thanMens diets shape improvement. It is now socially acceptable for a man to order the broiled salmon rather than the porterhouse steak as a means of protecting his heart. It is understandable for a man to skip dessert because his blood sugar numbers came up borderline. Health issues are a good way to rationalize weight loss for men's egos.

It is also advisable for men to approach changes in diet slowly over several weeks, with a new goal each week. A few simple changes can add up over time:

  • Reduce high-fat foods
  • Reduce high-sugar foods
  • Eat regular meals, and don't skip breakfast
  • Reduce alcohol intake

After a month of making these lifestyle and food choices, begin to count calories and adhere to a regular physical exercise program. You'll notice a general health improvement in no time!
