The Morgan Detox Diet May Really Work

The Morgan detox diet is named for Morgan Spurlock, the star of Super Size Me. Spurlock's fiancée, Alex Jamieson, was, unsurprisingly, concerned about Spurlock's health after he famously spent a month eating McDonald's for every meal. Jamieson is a vegan chef and a holistic health counselor. She used her knowledge and experience to create a detox program that would cleanse Spurlock's system. Jamieson doesn't like the word "diet." She feels, like many of us, that it has a lot of negative connotations. She prefers the term detox, which may only make you think of purifying yourself, but the Morgan detox diet will help you slim down as well. Spurlock lost 14 pounds in 8 weeks!

Now YOU Can Get Un-Super Sized, Too

In response to the buzz about the Morgan detox program and the everyday folks Morgan Detoxification French Friesinterested in giving it a try, Jamieson published a book. It's called The Great American Detox Diet, and it's as much a lesson on long-term life changes as it is a diet program. Though it's a structured 8-week program, it's also about becoming conscious of what we put into our bodies.

Clearly, Spurlock's experiment was extreme-it doesn't take a genius to figure out that 90 fast-food meals in a month will make you overweight and sick. However, Jamieson points out that you don't need a 30-day burger and fry binge to benefit from the Morgan diet. Even two fast-food meals a week can be bad for your health. Plus, none of us is immune to the pesticides and chemical additives Americans are exposed to in their foods.

And You'll Be Super-Hydrated Instead

Jamieson firmly believes that the vast majority of Americans are severely dehydrated. Step one of the Morgan's diet is heavily flushing your body with purified water. She also warns against the consumption of sugar and caffeine, as well as an excess intake of fat, carbs and protein. One of the most important lessons of Morgan detox diets is that you should eat fresh, whole foods whenever possible, doing your best to avoid highly processed meals. Pre-packaged foods, although convenient, are damaging to your health, according to Jamieson.

It's easy to see how eating fresh healthy foods and drinking large amounts of water will help make you slim and trim. Better than the average short-term weight loss plan, the Morgan diet can help you develop the kind of eating habits that will make traditional dieting unnecessary for the rest of your life.
