How the Type 2 Diabetes Diet Works

The Type 2 Diabetes diet works with the body to provide nutrients that the body can process. Type 2 Diabetes is a serious condition affecting millions of people around the world. The disease basically means that the body does not produce the right amount of insulin for the body for the amount of food that a person eats.

When a person eats food, the body immediately starts to break apart the different elements of the food in order to break those foods down. There are particular chemicals within the body that help to break down different elements of the food so that those elements can be digested and put to good use within the body.

When it comes to sugar, the body generally receives an insulin release from the Pancreas. If a person has Diabetes, then the Pancreas will fail to send out an appropriate amount of insulin, so the sugar cannot be broken down. Instead, the sugar stays in the blood stream and is eventually absorbed by the body as fat.

Sugar that turns to fat stays in the body and continues to collect more and more fat as it grows. The fat deposits itself in the cells, which then negatively affect the entire body, including the blood, arteries and organ functions.

The Type 2 Diabetes diet requires that diabetics follow a strictly non-sugar meal plan. Because Type 2 diabetics cannot process sugar in the same way a "normal" person can, the diabetic not only increases the level of sugar in the body when he or she east sugar, but the sugar will also turn directly into fat.

If you are considering following a Type 2 diet, then eliminate all sugar, pasta and flour from your diet. Choose foods that are made with sugar substitutes or that have all natural elements, such as legumes, vegetables, meats and fruits. Watch your blood sugar level with a monitor and be sure to keep the level under 100 units before and after meals.
