Vitamin B2: A Fat Fighting Friend?

It is becoming harder and harder to listen to any advertisement that makes claims about "super vitamins." Because of all the claims, it could be easy to discount vitamin B2 as just another one in a long line of vitamins that is good for its purpose, but falls far short of larger promises. This would be a mistake, though. While there is no magic "super vitamin" that instantly cuts through fat, vitamin B2 does function in several ways that can definitely help the responsible dieter.

Vitamin B2 is a vitamin that the body needs to process fats and various amino acids. While this alone makes it valuable to dieters, vitamin B2 also acts as an "activator" vitamin. B2 activates the full effects of vitamin B6, as well as folic acid, and helps to convert carbs into fuel for the body to run off of. This makes B2's role in keeping a healthy body and fighting off the bulge extremely important. There are also some studies that suggest that vitamin B2 has also been known to act as an antioxidant, cleaning the body of excesses and helping all the organs to run at closer to maximum proficiency.

Another reason to give vitamin B2 a shot at your trust is that it can be found in large amounts naturally. Dairy products, eggs, and different types of meat contain vitamin B2, as well as leafy green vegetables (such as spinach) and whole grains, though to a lesser extent. This makes B2 a very desirable vitamin since it comes in the types of healthier foods that a dieter should eat in order to cut down on the fat and waist line. Studies also show that B2 has been shown to help anemia, migraine headaches, and canker sores.
