Vitamin B can help you to lose weight and stay healthy.

The most important thing you should know about vitamin B is that there is no such vitamin at all. In fact there is a large group of vitamins B which affect almost all metabolic functions of the body. All of them are water soluble ones and can be found mainly in protein-rich food, so the probability of suffering from their insufficiency during any weight-loss program based on low-protein diet is really high.

There are eight main types of vitamin B, all together called as vitamin B - complex:

  • Vitamin B1 (thiamin) - found in spinach, liver, beef and pork as well as nuts or soybeans,
  • Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) can be found in milk, cheese, liver and many leafy green vegetables,
  • Vitamin B3 (niacin) is abundant in such foods as milk, eggs, meat and offal, some fish like tuna or salmon, many various vegetables, whole grain products and even mushrooms,
  • Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) comes in such foods as eggs, meat and whole grain cereals,
  • Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) can be found in chicken, fish, liver, bananas or field salad,
  • Vitamin B7 (Biotin) is normally apprehended through such foods as offals, dairy products, salmons, chicken breast and yeats,
  • Vitamin B9 (Folic acid) can be found in some leafy green vegetables, especially in spinach, dried beans and peas as well as some cereal products,
  • Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) is commonly found in some meat products, especially liver, as well as in dairy products and eggs.

There are also many other types (or rather subtypes) of vitamins B and all of them have their roles in the body metabolism.

For all people who want to lose weight, it's vitamin B3, B5 and B6 that are especially Structure of Vitamin Bimportant. They are responsible for supplying energy to the body cells. Vitamin B6 also helps digest food and thus prevents the fat accumulation in the fat cells. Vitamin B5 works together with B6 in the control over the fat metabolism.

The main problem with almost all vitamins B, except vitamin B12 and the folic acid, is that we can't store them in our body. They simply must be consumed every day to maintain the crucial metabolic and nervous system functions as well as good digestion. What's more, these vitamins can easily be damaged or even destroyed during cooking and food processing, making eating not processed food a must.
