Weight Loss Management You Can Live With

Losing weight is tough, no matter how you do it. But once you've reached your goal weight, the journey isn't really over. Now comes the time to start a weight loss management plan, and reap the benefits of all that hard work.

Hopefully, you will have learned a better way to eat during the weight-loss phase. Keeping the weight off takes real commitment, and requires a lifestyle change that allows for healthful eating and regular moderate exercise. No one expects to pick up their bad eating habits again and still stay slim and trim.

It might feel like it's time for a break after all that dieting. Reward yourself, definitely! You can even splurge on a favorite treat once in a while. The key is not to overdo it. A lifetime of deprivation probably doesn't appeal to you, and thinking that it's required is just a way of setting yourself up to fail. Don't be afraid to eat, but stay aware of your body and its periodic changes.

Mental management is important too. Stay active and take time to do things for yourself that don't center around food. Get a pedicure or a massage, or allow yourself a shopping spree for a new, smaller-sized wardrobe. Spend time with friends or explore a new hobby that you wouldn't do before you lost weight.

Living with your new body and managing your new weight can be exciting and doesn't have to be an uphill battle. If you notice a slight weight gain during times of stress or after a bad breakup, for instance, don't beat yourself up. Just nip any extra pounds in the bud with a weekend hiking trip or a weekly salsa dancing class. It's time to have fun; you've earned it!
