How do diet patches work?

Diet patches contain any of a variety of ingredients that accelerate the body's metabolic rate and breaks down fatty tissues. The diet patch works by delivering these ingredients through the skin, much like a nicotine patch works. Weight loss patches are affixed to a part of the body, like your arm or leg. The patch is worn throughout the day and removed at night. A new patch is affixed the next morning. Many diet patches are often available for purchase in one-week and two-week packages.

Do diet patches work?

While patches are supposed to assist with weight loss, there is no medical evidence to support this theory. In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has continued its attack on diet patch manufacturers. In two recent separate federal court actions, the FTC charged that one patch manufacturer falsely Diet Patchesclaimed that the skin patch caused substantial weight loss. The FTC complaints in both cases also challenged false claims that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had approved the patch or its main ingredient, sea kelp, for weight loss. The FTC also is going after retailers that sell the products and support their false claims.
