Learn the basics of Healthy DietingSet a goal. Don't plan on losing a lot of weight fast. A healthy weight loss plan is designed to work over the long run. Talk to your doctor to determine a healthy weight for you. Use that weight as your weight loss target goal. Take your time. The pounds you've gained over the years are not going to disappear overnight. In general, women should aim to lose no more than one pound a week and men should aim for two pounds a week. (Men have higher metabolic rates, so it's easier for them to lose weight more quickly.) Diets that produce faster weight loss may not be healthy. In fact, the scale may be indicating a loss of muscle mass, not fat. Fat better. Cutting just 250 calories from your daily diet will help you lose half a pound a week. Of the calories you do consume, more than half should be from carbohydrates, like Exercise as often and as much as you can. The quickest way to lose body fat is through exercise. Try to exercise for at least 30 minutes four or five times a week. Take a walk, ride a bike, practice yoga, garden, get a gym membership. You will not get the weight loss results you want from your weight plan if you don't exercise. Exercise increases weight loss and it tones and shapes your body-so you'll feel good and look great. A diet that claims weight loss without exercise is not a diet that will work for the long run. Take a look at your life. To keep the weight off for good, you may have to change habits that contributed to your becoming overweight in the first place. A good weight loss plan means looking at your eating and cooking habits. Do you eat when you're sad? Do you tend to snack while watching television or driving your car? These are the types of habits you may need to change. Changing some of these habits can help you lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. Also, changing these types of habits will benefit other members of your family when it comes to maintain healthy weights. Ask for help. How do you choose a diet plan? Talk to your doctor about your weight loss desires. Your doctor can recommend a diet style that will work best for you. Your doctor also can track your progress and offer assistance in helping you maintain your diet. If you need additional support, try a local support group. Support groups have been shown to be very useful in helping people follow their diet plans.. |
