The Perricone diet

The Perricone diet is named after its founder Nicolas Perricone, M.D. The Perricone diet doesn't focus on weight loss; instead it focuses on supplements and lotions that will make the user feel better and look younger. This is indeed a unique diet plan. Dr. Perricone claims his diet can decrease inflammation in every organ system of the body, improve metabolism, improve mood, protect the heart from disease, decrease cancer risk, improve bone density, cure skin problems, improve the immune system, and help you lose weight. Dr. Perricone's diet is supported on the foundation that bad food choices are responsible for skin wrinkles, degenerative diseases, and an accelerated aging process. Dr. Perricone sites his own research, but little of this research has been reviewed or published.

Who is the man behind the Perricone diet?

Dr. Perricone is an adjunct professor at MichiganPerricone Diet State University College of Human Medicine. He has made appearances on popular television shows in the United Sates, including Oprah, Today, and 20/20. His products, which include a line of supplements and skin care products, is available online and in some department stores. He owns his own store in New York City.

Dr. Perricone has written several books about his Perricone diet. These books, several of which were best sellers in the United Sates, include:

Dr. Perricone claims that simply by following his diet and regimen of nutritional supplements and lotions, you can reverse the aging process and the health conditions associated with aging. Dr. Perricone claims his diet will make users look younger in only a matter of days. Some American celebrities support the Perricone diet, which is helping to increase its popularity and interest.

Should I do the Perricone diet?

Before starting any diet, including the Perricone diet, talk to your physician. Your physician can determine the best type of diet to support your health and/or weight loss needs. A healthy diet includes proper nutrition and plenty of exercise. The Perricone diet remains a controversial topic, so it's especially important to talk to your physician about using the Perricone diet. Those with diabetes should not try the Perricone diet without first talking with their physician. In addition, the Perricone diet-particularly its nutritional supplements and lotions-are quite costly.

Can a child try the Perricone diet?

A child should not be put on the Perricone diet. This diet is controversial and until unbiased studies are produced that show the diet works and is not detrimental to health, children should not use the diet.
